Take Action

Take action!  I remember reading a Tony Robbins article years ago that encouraged people to take action.  He contended, in this article, that people often have great ideas but do not act on these ideas.  He said that this “action” or “lack of action” is often what separates those that achieve some level of success from those that do not.  I would say that I agree with Mr. Robbins.  I will leave it to you to define “success”.

In fact, I believe that this would be the same idea that James was referring to in chapter 2 of the book of James as he wrote about faith and deeds.

“In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead” – James 2:17

“…I will show you my faith by what I do.” – James 2:18

These are just two verses from this chapter and I would encourage you to read it completely.  Faith without deeds would be like a great idea without any action following it, in a word, useless.  People like Ben Franklin, Thomas Edison, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, to name a few, had great ideas but what truly separates them was that they acted on those ideas.  The same can be said for so many great Christians serving others around the world.  What about you?  Have you had an idea to serve God and your fellow man but did not act?  What held you back?  World Vision, Compassion Intl’, Samaritans Purse, New Missions and so many other great organizations began with an idea.  No different than FedEx, Apple, Microsoft, Ford, etc.  The difference between them, and others that had similar ideas to serve, was action.

What is God giving you an idea for?  Maybe it is not to start something entirely new but to use your gifting and talents to join in with a work.  Maybe it is to sell most everything you own and move to another country to serve.  Maybe it is to be a representative for an organization.  I cannot answer that  for you but I can tell you that if God has given you an idea for something, He is waiting for you to take action.  Taking action does not assure us of an ideas success but not taking action does assure us of its failure.
