Back to School

Back to school time is approaching in the Dominican Republic just as it is in the U.S.  I see the ads on TV from the U.S. stations and the displays in the stores here in the D.R.  As you begin preparations for your own kids to return to school, would you consider helping a child in the D.R. get a quality Christian education?

While I understand that there may be some issues here and there with our school system in the U.S., we are really very blessed to have wonderful schools offering a high level of education for our children.  Many people around the world do not have the opportunity for a quality education just by being a citizen of their country like we do.

The vast majority of Dominican people are some of those without great options for education.  In fact, primary education in the D.R. is rated as one of the worst in the world, with it recently being ranked 144 out of 146 countries by the World Economic Forum.  Then there are those children that are not even allowed to attend school because they do not have a birth certificate.  These are the two areas where the Firm Foundation Education Centers work.  We offer primary education to those children not able to attend school and fill in the gaps to offer a better education to those already attending school.

This is a critical issue because a lack of education makes children very vulnerable for exploitation.  A lack of education means a lack of hope for many children.  This is a major factor in why 50% of the slaves around the world are children.

With your help we can restore the hope of a better future and protect children from exploitation.  By partnering with a child through our sponsorship program, you are providing them with the tools they need to become successful adults and end a cycle of extreme poverty and oppression.

For more information on how you can make a massive difference in the life of a child go to Firm Foundation Child Sponsorship.  We have completely revamped our child sponsorship program to make it very easy to sign up, communicate and track your child’s progress.  So this school year send a child to back to school in the D.R. as well as the U.S.
