Sept. 2009 – Following the Call

In January of 2006 my family and I moved to the Dominican Republic to serve as missionaries. At the time we felt like it was only to be for a season. We made a commitment of one year but thought all along that it would probably be two. After a year and a half we felt called to move back to the U.S. The last two years have been a wonderful time of learning and growing. We felt from the time we came back that we would end up back in the DR at some point. After earnestly seeking Gods will for our lives through spending time in his word, prayer and seeking wise council we have made the decision to move back to the DR to serve as missionaries. Our plan is to move towards the end of January.

This move we feel will be long term as compared with the last time we were called. It has been really amazing to see God work this all out and develop this lifetime calling. We never know what God may have planned for us down the road but we believe that the DR is where we belong for the foreseeable future . Because of this we are selling pretty much everything we own for this move. I know that this seems extreme to some people but we know that God will provide for all our needs. These things are simply material possessions and do not mean anything in the eternal. Jesus said, “Foxes have dens to live in, and birds have nests, but I, the Son of Man, have no home of my own, not even a place to lay my head.” – Matthew 8:20 Serving God and living in His will is all we need and is a privilege greater than any possession.
